I tell everyone I know about this app. I tell my friends, my family, my boyfriend’s friends and family, and cashiers at liquor stores. I wanted to get more into accurately describing the wines I drank, and also to have a better predictor for what i will like rather than going by the liquor store’s listed wine ratings(which are just promotional anyway). I tried going by basic principles of what regions usually make good specific types of wine, and that was an epic fail. I tried one expensive bottle in an attempt to ~culture~ myself that ended up tasting like someone drank half of it and filled it back up with water so no one would know. So not very appealing. Moral of the story: i live by this app now. I try to rate most of the wines i drink to boost my ranking on it, but also to understand better what i do and don’t like in a wine. And I’m HOOKED on the new feature that gives you a percentage prediction for how much you’ll like a wine based on past input. And it even tells you when you need to decant a wine or let it breathe for a while before drinking it! There’s also cool little “classes” that give you information on new types of wine, and wine challenges to broaden how many Californian Cabernets or whatever you’ve tried. This app will change your drinking life. And it will make you feel fancy. I can’t believe it’s free.
New to Wine Appreciation. Great app, one desired feature missing

As someone new to appreciation and collecting of wine, I was looking for an app that provided a lot of detail on the wines that I searched/owned, as well as help me organize those that I own. The wine label search feature is the best and most intuitive around, extremely helpful, and then I appreciate all the details about the winemaker, grapes, various details about the specific wine, and reviews, tasting notes, estimated price, etc. The one feature that I wish it had was a more robust cellar management feature. As it currently is, I’m able to add bottles to my cellar, but I’d also like to specify the physical location in my cellar/fridge. For instance, to specify that a certain bottle was at Row A, Column 2, and also to be able to have a graphic of the fridge/cellar and to click through each bottle to see what is in that physical space. This would allow me to browse the cellar/fridge from the app instead of physically going to it (& thus pulling bottles out to see what they are), and also would be nice to be able to search for where a specific bottle was located, such as “Where is my 2016 Caymus located in my cellar?” This obviously isn’t an important feature for a small collection, but would be good for a larger collection. The other apps on the market that have these “cellar management” features don’t include all the other beneficial features of Vivino nor do they have as nice of interfaces/user-friendliness of Vivino.
Wine new you

I wanted to say I was really liking your app. I’ve even checked out purchasing wine quite a few times. It’s only a matter of time before I do. My favorite part of the app with you telling me what percentage of a match, a new wine is to me. I discovered anything above 90% I actually do like so I really don’t have to ask a Restaurant for me to try one anymore because I trust your app. I also like that now I have a little history of the things I like so when I come across it again, I can read my own review. They’re obviously too many out there for me to remember. I’m not exactly a sommelier with fancy descriptions, but I do you want to improve in my wine knowledge. That being said this week, I was playing around with the app and I discovered some changes. Mostly being that now you tell me something is a “good match” for me and when I tried it, it was disgusting.! And I wondered what happened to the percentage and then I saw that now you’re asking me for dollars and $.99 per month for an analytic. I understand the app cost money. I also understand you’re making money on ads to put this wine company’s product in front of our faces and our emails constantly. I’m not paying you five dollars a month on top of that to be a free advertising target for you to also make money on me. Five dollars a month is a Bank greedy and my girlfriend and I have been discussing and researching other wine apps because you’re not the only one out there. I nominal fee of a dollar a month is more than fair and I think I need one of us may have gladly pay that but five dollars a month is simply insulting. Just wanted to let you know. Whatever you take from this comment is up to you. My girlfriend and I are leaving your app and definitely I’m subscribing from your emails.
Poor Business and Development Choices

Here’s my honest feedback about your app. I’ve been using it for about 6 years now. When I first started using Vivino, I loved it and would recommend it to all my wine friends and enthusiasts. Then you started putting in ads in the most annoying fashion. Your leadership and marketing team should be ashamed with your various implementation tactics. Of course, you’re going to alienate your users by taking features away and annoying them to death unless they move to the premium version. A better way would have been to entice people by the wonderful features your premium platform offers. Now I personally won’t move to your premium version just based on principle and won’t recommend your app to anyone. I just purchased a Le Cache 500 bottle wine cabinet and thought about switching to another app that I would have been happy to pay for. Instead I have adapted my usage to your free app and put up with the misguided changes you continue to make like not being able to edit the prior History notes. I don’t mind how the current ads are being done but I would never click on them to subscribe to a product via an ad. I’m disappointed that I can no longer recommend Vivino based on the poor choices of your ad implementation processes and changing features. Sad that the first review that pops up when you search the Vivino app is 2 years old because all the recent reviews are so poor. That should tell you a lot.
