Awesome, but not perfect.
The app is great; the algorithm put in place to repeat words until you get a grasp of them is brilliant.
Problem is, some of the definitions that you’ll learn aren’t necessarily what you’ll find in a Webster’s Dictionary, which is kind of bizarre. I get it that they’re trying to keep the definitions to a minimal amount of words to help with memory, but many of the definitions seem to be just too short and vague. Then there are some definitions that seem to be a little off...
For example, in the app the word “circuitous” is a noun, and defined simply as “roundabout,” meaning literally a roundabout that you’d drive through. Circuitous can include a roundabout in certain contexts, but it is used mostly as an adjective, and more specifically it means “having a circular or winding course.” Put into a sentence, you could use it as “we took a circuitous route to grandma’s house.” It can also mean “not being forthright or direct in language or action.”
Not a huge deal, but it makes me wonder what other words on the app are a little off. But either way, it’s a great app. I haven’t found another that’s anything like it!
I'm going to tell you about a wonderful app called Vocab Genius!
Hi, my name is the Review King Man! Thank you for taking your time and reading this! I hope this changes your mind about getting the app! 😁
BEST vocab app out there
I tried a few different adult vocabulary apps, but I found them to be a let-down after viewing the selection of vocabulary they would try and teach you. I knew all of it - most to be very simple words even a child would now (I'm sorry, if you're in your 20's and need help defining the word "outgoing", I have no hope for this world). This app was different. I'm learning so much more than I thought I ever could and it's greatly improving my writing and oral vocabulary.
