Best Dictation for Mac

I am a avid user of dictation on my Mac using it every day, many times throughout the day and I found the Mac native dictation, albeit improved, still very limited, and also kept messing up a lot of words and I always had to go back and adjust things especially if it was more than one sentence. So I tested out the 5 popular dictation apps and this one is easily the best bang for your buck. It doesn't mess up my words, and I am able to add my own vocabulary/names. It allows you to do the key important things that the other dictation apps also allow you to do without all the extra transcription stuff and larger costs. If you want better dictation this is the app. I have no affiliation with this app or the developers… this is just a really good app.

Amazing replacement when dictation on your Mac stops working.

Mac Sequoia 15.1 caused my dictation to stop working. This is the only thing I found that could get me back to the productivity levels I needed. I'm not usually fond of auto punctuation, but this thing works perfectly. I'm still on the trial level, but I see no reason why I would not move forward with the one-time purchase price. This review, of course, was written using the app itself.

I don't understand it

This review was made with Apple's sequoia dictate built into the OS. I can see what I'm typing in real time whereas this program I have to wait for transcription. I tried the real time transcription and it was horrible. It did not get things correct. So why would I spend $20 for something that's already built into the OS? I'm not using my hands at all to type this review. I guess maybe if you have a Mac that doesn't support this feature and this program does then it would be very useful. You can also add custom words and transcribe files, which wasn't perfect, but did work if you needed those features, I guess it's OK. I use a different program for transcribing files personally so I will be removing this as it's functionality is basically built into the OS. And I did use the largest model as well.

Hi sorry for you negative experience. Wanted to address a few concerns you listed

1. Slow transcription: Transcription runs locally unlike other services that ship audio to servers. There are advantages to both. VoiceType sends 0 data ( you can airplane your device and check). A slight delay is expected Usually about 2-3 seconds for every minute of audio).
2. Accuracy: Can you share the language you used and if you were in a noisy environment ? As you can see with most reviews here and on other platforms accuracy is on par with the state of the art transcription.
3. Price and usability: As stated on the website, for most folks doing basic dictation the inbuilt transcription is good enough. If you are doing technical work and need that little bit of higher accuracy and you need it a few times a day, everyday; only then does it make sense to use VoiceType or other specialized applications. There is also a 7 day free trial without opting into any sort of automatic subscription or email funnel/ sign up. So you only need to spend on the app if you find it useful after trying.
