Experience the magic of GPS audio walks, cycles, drives and even boat rides with VoiceMap tours in over 200 destinations worldwide. They’re like podcasts that move with you, to tell stories about what you’re seeing right now.
VoiceMap’s tours are produced by insightful local storytellers, including journalists, filmmakers, novelists, podcasters, and tour guides. Sir Ian McKellen has even created a tour. It's around London's West End, where he has performed for over 50 years.
◆ VoiceMap works offline. After you download a tour, the audio will be available offline along with an offline map.
◆ With GPS autoplay, you can focus on your surroundings, not the screen. Put in your headphones, tap on Start, and let VoiceMap guide you.
◆ If you do wander off in the wrong direction, VoiceMap will play an audio alert, and you can follow the map on your screen to the next location.
◆ With hundreds of free and paid tours, VoiceMap offers huge variety.
Reviews and Testimonials:
"High-quality self-guided walking tours...Narrated by local experts, they provide insight into corners of the city sometimes overlooked by regular guided tours."
“We may be biased, but could there be anything more helpful than having a journalist in your pocket when touring a new city? How about a historian, a novelist or just a really passionate local? VoiceMap culls city-specific stories from them all and fits them neatly into walking tours.”
New York Times
“Great value for money, interesting and very clear and easy to follow! I learnt lots about London I didn't already know and I have lived here over 30 years.”
London’s Alternative History Tour
"I loved the tour, bought all of the New Orleans ones you had and have already recommended it to two people. As an amateur photographer who likes to take his time it was great. I will without a doubt continue to use the app."
Faith & Courage: Metairie Cemetery Stories, New Orleans
“Loved this! Real eye opener for me as a new resident of Singapore who thought this only an island of foodies and engineers. LOL! Please produce more soon!”
“I did my first VoiceMap tour and the Chanel tour blew me away. I can only recommend.”
Coco Chanel's Paris
"My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this 'talk and walk'. A real eye opener and superbly narrated. This is a first class experience, our first with VoiceMap, and we look forward to using this program frequently in other cities. "
Witches Riots and the Cold War, Berlin
** Just so you know, GPS runs in the background while you're on a tour. This decreases battery life and it's best to start a tour with your device fully charged.
VoiceMap 8 – codenamed Edinburgh – focuses on three things:
1. A better, more immersive experience when you use VoiceMap tours at home, to take virtual tours
2. A smoother start that now includes the option to sign in with Apple
3. All sorts of improvements to make the app more compatible with iOS 14

Lake Geneva walking path
This was such a great way to enjoy the Path!! I have walked it so many times and wanted to know about what I am seeing. It is informative, easy to listen to, and still relaxing with times of silence just to take in the views. You don’t have to walk and read at the same time either! It is nice because you can start from anywhere on the path and turn back when you get tired and just pick it up on another day. Highly recommend!
Richmond Tour where is the history???
I’m sorry but so far this has been the worst audio tour I have ever done. Why did I walk all along here just to hear about how this person I don’t know got locked out of her apartment? We passed so many amazing spots without any mention of their history. Not even a mention of the balboa theater! Massive oversight. Also, these long silences could be largely improved with some music. The Detour app was much better than this. It is waaay to specific to this random girl’s life. We want info on the actual neighborhood. Very disappointed with this. I’m am typing this while the narrator tells some dark story about her aunt and a cult, presumably to add some intrigue to the tour. But it just feels so random and weird and again, has so little to do with learning about the history of this neighborhood since it is so specific to this one person’s experience.
Impressive! Very well done ...
Very impressed ... much better than I expected. Only did one in Prague so far but very good narration and learned many things we would otherwise not have even seen.
GPS is erratic in the midst of buildings on all sides so frequently lost the location. It’s easy enough to select the next story though. Although a reverse direction option would be fantastic.
Will be using again this weekend and then in Italy.
