VoteWithMe is an app that shows you who in your contacts can help you affect positive, progressive change for the things that matter most to you – and lets you reach out to them to remind them to vote for those changes. It doesn’t matter where you live or vote – see your contacts in VoteWithMe and reach out to them individually through text.
Why? We have proof that people are more likely to vote if a friend asks them to. And, just like that, your voice goes further and your ability to create real change is exponentially increased with every friend that receives your reminder to vote.
How? VoteWithMe uses publicly available records to show you who in your contacts is able to vote, who lives in areas with close elections, and who needs a nudge to go vote. This is how we empower you to have the largest possible impact on elections nationwide – all through the contacts you already have on your phone.
We believe the future of democracy is at stake and in the hands of voters. A simple reminder to your friends about voting has been proven to have a substantial effect, at times being the difference between disastrous policies and lifesaving ones.
VoteWithMe respects and protects your privacy. We will never sell your personal information to anyone and *we will never contact your friends*. You choose who to contact, and when to contact them. VoteWithMe gives you complete control.
VoteWithMe helps you increase voter turnout for Team Blue, no matter where in the US you live or vote.
It uses public voting records to tell you which of your contacts may be able to vote in close elections and which might need a reminder to get to the polls so you can encourage them to cast a ballot.
Use this release to get out the vote in the midterm elections in November 2018. Version 1.2.1 includes minor bug fixes.

Needs some updates
Terrific app and was helpful in encouraging registered voters that have never voted to take that first step. Definitely believe information needs updated for the upcoming elections- also many was it could expand with links to find your ballot, research candidates, push notifications for debates, and so much more. This app has amazing potential with a little boost in development. Also, would be nice to add someone to my list without adding their name to my contacts. I like to see candidates voting records and such and don’t want a contact for each one.
Intrusive and Potentially Divisive
I’m well aware that the information it’s displaying is publically available. However we live in a very divided time politically and this app could contribute. I already have friends saying “if you don’t vote in this election, than we are no longer friends.” The app also prominently displays a Blue D or a Red R by each of my contacts to represent Democrat or Republican. However, in my state, it’s pulling that data based on what primary you may have voted in and incorrectly marking individuals. I have friends who are diehard republicans and democrats who voted in the other parties primary (possible in my state), to give their candidate a leg up. I am not the party they marked me as. There are unstable individuals in this world who could use this incorrectly marked data as reason to take action in a bad way. If this was just listing who had not voted last, I’d have less of a problem. I believe in going to vote. But like Facebook, I think this app was created with the best of intentions, without thinking through the ramifications on our already divided society.
Non-intrusive, privacy-ethical tech to GOTV
This is a very thoughtful-developed app. It asks your permission before accessing any information on your phone. It runs your name against public records to tell you what elections are coming up in your legislative district, and if you let it do the same with your contacts, it tells you who you know in districts with close contests. It does not store your contact info, it does not add you or anyone else to lists. It keeps you in the driver’s seat. And it allows you to contact people you already know about voting, supporting a vigorous democracy. The app’s interface is very easy to use. There are no ads. There is no partisan fronting for any party. There is only support for more voices to join our democracy.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
