Wana is a community platform that fosters hope, direction, and healing for people with chronic and invisible illnesses. Think of us like the social network for health, specifically designed to help the millions of people who live with conditions like Lyme disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, Crohn’s disease, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, endometriosis, and POTS, among many others. No matter what chronic or invisible illness you face, Wana will remind you--every time you log on--that you are not alone.
Wana was built by a team of people who live with chronic and invisible conditions and understand what our community members are going through. Our founders met by chance and connected over their shared health stories: mysterious symptoms, frustrating misdiagnoses, and a sense of isolation. As they bonded over their symptoms, shared advice about treatments, and supported each other in finding answers, their health challenges became a lot less overwhelming. They got better, together.
Wana was created for people like you and people like us. It’s the answer to the confusion, overwhelm, and loneliness that often comes with living with an invisible or chronic condition. At Wana, illness doesn't isolate us--it connects us. Whatever your health story looks like, you belong on Wana.

Not as many Zebras!
It’s a new app so we have to give it to time, but the selections are lacking for my fellow zebras. If you are one, you know what I mean.
Couldn’t find majority of information for my major condition and had to type it in with a message that they’d approve it. Eek, I hope you’re not going to be part of those weird people who insist my illness doesn’t exist... the “things that helped you” list is also lacking. Sorry but not all of us have been helped by homeopathic remedies. And then there are some like me who use a combination of both based off of years of research and trials. Also just the fact I individually responded to it. More options? We’re sick and disabled. While you’re offering a lot of choices, this still barely scratches the surface!
I’m still willing to give this 4 stars. Design is good, no errors I encountered, and it’s easy to use. Just remember the rest of us zebras will you?
Developer Response ,
Hey NjGeeky, EDS and other rare conditions are real and we see you. Thank you for the 4 stars, over the past 3 months we have updated our diagnoses, symptoms, and treatments. While we had to limit it to 300 write-ups at launch, our editorial team is consistently working on the next updates to be added next. We added more integrative treatments at first because it is very difficult to find information online, and they have had a significant impact on our current community. Currently, we are adding several more western treatments and conditions that will be able to pertain to you. If you have any suggestions or feedback we would love to hear it. Also, a majority of our community has EDS and other "rare" diagnoses, that doctors would consider Zebras, check your matches to find other Zebras or write on the feed to find others. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or DM WanaMama in the app about the conditions and treatments you would like to see on the App. Our community is shaped by our users, and we want you to have a safe space to find community and direction.
Knowledge and support at my fingertips
I deal with a few chronic conditions and Wana is my new place to turn when I’m looking for answers and support. I’m interested in both conventional and integrative medicine, and I’ve found helpful resources for both approaches on Wana. There’s really no question that’s too big or small for the Wana community, and I’ve been really impressed by the way people generously respond to my questions and provide ideas for me to look into further. I feel a lot less alone in my health whenever I’m on Wana!

Hey emmawithag, we love hearing that Wana has been educational, comforting space for you. One of our main goals is to provide a safe haven where our community members feel less alone, so we're glad that Wana has been that for you! If there's something you'd like to see in the app, please email us at email@example.com; we hope to see you back in the community soon!
Good idea, Poorly Executed
Great idea in theory, but the finite list of conditions and treatments is incredibly frustrating, and there should be a “write-in” option. The search feature is also very counterintuitive, as instead of letting you search for keywords or phrases, the system only allows you to search for items from the pull down menus. It would really be helpful to search for keywords found in other posts, as well as medications or specialists.
The other frustrating part of this app is that the list of “treatments” are almost entirely homeopathic, which is great, except there are almost no chemo/ prescription treatments listed, which is what most people with chronic conditions are dealing with. It would be nice to hear other people’s experiences with certain medicines, but the limited search feature does not allow this.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We are glad you resonate with the theory behind Wana and really appreciate your feedback. While we would have loved to launch with every diagnosis, symptom, and treatment it takes tremendous time to build out a comprehensive database. As such, we had to choose 300 diagnoses, symptoms and treatments for launch and add more during each update. We definitely agree with you on the smart search function and plan to develop this soon. The app was built so community members can learn from one another and share advice to provide hope and direction. The features we are building will allow for ease in sharing reviews on practitioners and medications, as you mentioned. We launched with a more integrative, holistic database as we found many of these treatments helped our community members. However, we are now focusing on incorporating more western approaches, stay tuned for more to come. Please feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, we love hearing feedback and are always looking for ways to improve our app.
