Beta - not as good as the original, yet.

The app works and is essentially a clone of the 40K app. Which I don’t like. It works better here because there is less description and the rules are simpler.
The army creation function does not limit your choices to the army you selected. You see all the options for all the armies. That needs to be fixed.
The layout of the warscolls is bad compared to what it was. The original version worked very well. You could see all of a units weapons at one time. Now you have scroll for any unit that has more than 3-4 weapons or a damage chart.
The white space is way too much given a mobile phones screen size. The header text for each ability is too big. It can be reduced to make more room for the abilities.
The one thing I really dislike is that there is no PDF available for any of the battletomes. I used to read them on my phone or iPad and can’t now. Very disappointing given how easy it would be to create them.

A step in the right direction

I have been using the old app for years and when I see this app I feel like it was a step down quality. That being said it seems to have learned from the mistakes of the 40K app and that might be due to having a completely different system but it is an improvement. Aesthetically speaking it is a downgrade. Rules wise is a mixed bag. The rules that are there are easy to understand and are current. I still don’t like the system of you need to buy the physical book to view the brand new stuff. Just let us buy a digital version like the old one and please allow us to change army names and point limits after creating said army in app. Also if they are going to charge for it make cheap like previous app just 99 cents or keep it free. I don’t want to be spending 5 dollars for a half baked app like 40K. Overall better than 40K but still needs more polishing.

Awful UI and Poor Listbuilder

The minimum amount of functionality on this app are not worth a Warhammer+ subscription. If this were to remain free then it has some value given the price structure of Games Workshop products. In its current state it is bare bones excel sheet style listbuilding and reference. Eventually all the books for your army on the Beta will need to be purchased. The cost to access reference is not worth the broken nature of the App’s UI.

Rules are not cross referenced and must be searched; Core and Tome rules are two DIFFERENT search boxes. List-building is frustrating since errors do not reference the unit causing problems. Warscrolls must be accessed by switching back and forth through the lists. Sort is useless; can’t sort by point cost, abilitity, keyword, etc. Easy to implement capabilities like short or long swipe are absent. Unit abilities available in each phase are absent meaning the constant Warscroll reference is more of an issue.

This is a basic app that adds nothing that other builders like AoS Reminders, Battlescribe, and Wikipedia do MUCH better and intuitively.
