Description

Weatherly is a simple and elegant solution for seeing the current weather right from your desktop's menu bar. Customize the menu bar to show current conditions, temperature, "feels like" temperature, or humidity. The app uses your current location to provide incredibly accurate forecasts. An essential app for every Mac owner.

Weatherly provides the following features:
- Current temperature and weather, based on your location
- Choose your favorite weather provider; Apple Weather (previously Dark Sky), Visual Crossing, or OpenWeather
- Hourly and 7-day forecast
- Display temperature as either Fahrenheit or Celsius
- Automatically start the app on system startup
- Frequent updates (every 10 minutes)
- Add multiple locations

Please note - A subscription is required to access the features of the app. Weatherly is a monthly or yearly subscription-based application which includes a 7-day free trial. These subscriptions support the monthly fees associated with accessing high quality weather data.

Please leave a review if you're enjoying the app, thank you!

Clean, simple and well once-upon a time accruate

It reports light rain and it is clearly snowing. Why has Dark Sky been so inaccurate lately? Do you have plans to change weather data providers after Apple inevitably destroys the company. :( makes me sad. use to love DS. You have a nice app and I truly appreciate at, but DS is having some obvious issues and I would hate to see this app get more bad reviews because of a problem with the data-provider. Would have been 5 stars otherwise.

Hello,

Thank you for the thorough review! I’m glad that you’ve (mostly) been enjoying the app. A short answer to your question, yes, at a point in the future the app will be switching data providers which will hopefully be an improvement for you! One of the issues with sourcing weather data is that different providers offer different accuracy depending on the region at times. I’m sorry that Dark Sky hasn’t been the most accurate for you. Hopefully I’ll be able to help improve that with a different provider.

Thank you again,
Mike

Seems to have quit working... (UPDATE)

Below is my original review. The fix suggestion from the developer worked. I figured it was an issue with Dark Sky as I heard some news on it but was unaware that I could change the forecast source. I am updating from 1 star to 5 stars. My favorite weather app with just the information I need without the clutter a lot of other weather apps have and I appreciate the helpful developer response.

-------------------

The app seems to have quit working. It was the best weather app I've tried until it stopped. Tried all the regular stuff: closing/reopening, refreshing, restoring purchases, uninstalling/reinstalling. It's just dead. I was just charged the monthly subscription fee too. Nothing.

Developer Response ,

Hello,

I’m sorry for the issues that you’ve experienced. As a temporary workaround you may select one of the two additional weather providers which Weatherly supports. Within Weatherly click “…” in the top-right then click “Preferences” then click “Forecast Source” where you may select either “Visual Crossing” or “OpenWeather”. This should get the app working again.

There is an update pending with Apple which resolves this issue. I’m cautiously optimistic that this will be approved soon. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at support@glooplabs.com if you have any additional questions. Again, I apologize that this has been an issue. This is not the kind of experience that I would have liked for my users.

All the best,
Mike

Hello Again,

I'll leave my original response first so other folks might see it but I wanted to let you know that I'm glad that you're up and working again! I truly appreciate you taking the time to update your review. I'm not sure if Apple sends out updates when developers add to their original response but it really means a lot that you took the time to leave an update.

Have a great weekend,
Mike

Good app but not perfectg

This is a super convenient way to have a weather report handy on my computer. it says it someohow is connected to Dark Sky, the wonderful app I've used on my phone for a few years. But it is not really up to the quality i get from DArk sky. For instance, i am hearing thunder outside righr now. DArk Sky on my phone says it will start raining in two minutes and it's dark, wind picking up, really sounds about right. But thre Weatherly app on my computer says just parrly cloudy all day - no mention of rain. So it's about half right - oo on temperarure and cloud, but the fact that I have to go close some windows is not suggested. So four stars for pretty good.
