What are malicious cookies?
Cookies are text files placed on your computer when you visit a website in order to store certain information, which normally does not compromise your privacy. Cookies can be used, among other things, to customize the web pages you visit, or even to remember the user name and password that some pages require.

However, the use of malicious cookies on the Internet is increasing rapidly. These types of cookies can be used to track your activity online, supposedly for targeted advertising purposes.

Web Shield protects your privacy by deleting the cookies that may pose a threat.

What cookies?

Bought Web Shield to rid my browsers of cookies on an iMac. Although I use Firefox, it seemed unable to find any cookies on Firefox! I had to go into Firefox preferences and dig them out manually. Nor did it see any cookies on Chrome. The only browser it actually found cookies on was Safari, but a pop up window advised that it can’t remove them from that browser. You have to go to preferences and remove them manually. In that case, why bother with Web Shield?
