What’s New

Version 3.4

- Built-in automatic image resizing: If you add an image which is unnecessary huge for a website, WebsitePainter now offers you to resize that image automatically, making your website smaller and load much faster.

- Faster website upload: When publishing your website to the internet, WebsitePainter now only uploads changed files, if wanted. So making small changes to your website is now much, much faster.

- New 'static' gallery mode: The gallery has now an additional new open mode: 'none'. Which when selected, causes that the gallery pictures are not clickable and cannot be made bigger.

- Improved image quality: The preview image quality of the built-in image gallery is now much higher

- Smart quote filter: Smart pasted text and smart quotes are now automatically detected and replaced when causing problems in code like PHP, JavaScript, HTML or CSS code

- Compatibility with more PHP web servers: External PHP css files now have the extension filename_php.css instead of filename.php.css before, because some servers would try to run the .css file as PHP file.

- Unsaved changes indicator: The editor now has an indicator showing if there are unsaved changes in the document

A strong editor with some quirks

Such as: No retina support. No svg support. Hyperlink ordering is not intuitive. Changes to the image directory sometimes require a restart to access. No apparent opacity adjustment. Fewer than desired number of alterable preferences (example: default font size).

Some notable strengths: Pixel per pixel nudge with arrow keys. Subcontainer tool. All system fonts accessible. Good preview function. Detailed adjustment of tool attributes. HTML knowledge unnecessary. Output bitmap quality is superb.

Two tips, in case you find yourself working with this program. 1) How to outwit the intra-document hyperlinks: if not working as expected, try creating a cluster of anchors and targeting the median one. 2) Wrestling with copy/paste: understand that the container is copied exactly, including position, meaning that the destination position must exist numerically.

Is it worth the price? Still undecided on that one.

Same Problem.

Everything was going smoothly until I had to link another page to a button/text, if you can inform me on how to do so I would be more than happy to give you five stars.

-UPDATE: I'm reading that other peope are experiencing the same problem; I assume that this essential capability is not yet funcional on your application? This app cost $40, and I at least expected it to have this extremely basic ability, I demand that my money be returned or the problem be fixed/explained. It feels as if this is false advertising. I understand that the app is in its infancy, but you should inform potential buyers that they are exremely limited in designing a webpage at the moment with your $40 application.

Good Stuff

Straight forward and easy to use from install to the uploading of the finished file. I have no plans to use anything else.

When uploading, it is best not to consider using a second program like Fetch. Websitepainter will do it easily. Though I am sure Fetch does the job for other files, it didn't do the job with this format.
