Ratings and Reviews
WFAA/Channel 8 Multiple Radars Are Second to None
I’ve looked at several weather radar sources, including my local CBS, NBC, and FOX News stations, also The Weather Channel, and the National Weather Service, and none of them even come close to Dallas’ WFAA/Channel 8 multiple radars on their website. Their coverage showing the entire state at once, and also the option of looking at any single area of the state, is absolutely second to none! And the different colors indicating different intensities within a storm, are vivid and clear, making it easy to discern each intensity level in the storm from the others. Kudos to Dallas WFAA/Channel 8!
Love my Channel 8.
All my televisions are always set on my Channel 8. From my Daybreak show, GMA, GMT, and all the news from 4-10. I have watched John McCaa with so much respect since his first night many years ago. I do wish him well for retirement but I am sure the person who takes his place will be up to the task. My weather team is the BEST. I love Izzy, missed her but Marie did us proud. The interaction between Pete and Dale is hilarious. Loved Dale for a long time. Please tell the whole team-all day long- they are like family.
Ads have ruined the app
UPDATE REVIEW: I like to get my local news and weather from WFAA, and I am satisfied with the news and weather quality.
The ads have completely ruined the experience. First they were eating all my data. Then they were just plain stupid ads (they still are, I’ve never seen an ad even remotely interesting, in general they deter me from what is being advertised, half the time they are so dumb or awful it’s to the point of offensive). Now they are everywhere in the app. In the middle of the main page. In the middle of the news stories. It’s disgusting. As I said in an earlier review, have some self respect WFAA.
I love WFAA, and a I always get my news and weather from the app. I understand the need for paid advertising to make the app free, but have some sense of decency. I’m disgusted by the ‘you won’t believe what she looks like now!’, ‘30 hottest women!’, ‘10 haircuts to make you look younger!’, ‘United States drivers ... getting a big surprise!’. Who are these ads targeting? Who would click one of these ads? They detract from the WFAA experience by making it feel cheap and stupid. Try to find some advertisers that are relevant and seem for semi-intelligent people, preferably local.
