Description

Widgetsmith lets you personalize your home screen like never before.

It starts with a wide collection of highly customizable widgets, which range in function from date, to weather, to astronomy. Each can be adjusted precisely to best fit your desired function and appearance.

This set of widgets can then be dynamically scheduled to appear on your home screen following rules you define. For example, a particular widget could show the weather first thing in the morning, then your calendar during your work day, then switch to your Activity ring progress as you wrap up your day. This lets you take full advantage of each slot on your home screen.

The app itself also includes a wide collection of tools, such as a weather app, a timezone converter, a calendar. These tools can automatically launch based on the active widget tapped.

Notes:
• Widgetsmith optionally integrates with Apple Health. This data is used to display your step and activity if you select one of those widget types. Permission for Widgetsmith to access this data is controlled through the Apple Health app.
• Widgetsmith includes an optional premium subscription. This is offered on a monthly or annual basis. If you choose to purchase a subscription your payment will be charged to your iTunes account. Subscriptions will automatically renew unless canceled within 24-hours before the end of the current period. You can turn off auto-renewal at any time by going to your Account Settings on the App Store after purchase.
• Access to Tide and Weather hosted data is only available to Widgetsmith Premium subscribers.

Good app but small problem

It’s a good app. I absolutely love this app. I’ve had it ever since the ios14 came out. I have one small little problem with this though. This morning all the widgets on my phone were perfectly fine and they’ve been showing up on my Home Screen, but later today they turned gray with lines over it and I tried to fix it and tried to make the widget picture I put in show up, but it just didn’t. I didn’t erase the app or the widgets because maybe I thought it was just a small glitch, so I just powered on and off my phone and tried again, but apparently the widgets of my choice of photo still didn’t show which made me very upset because without those widgets my Home Screen just doesn’t make sense and the day I rearranged my whole entire Home Screen it took me 4 hours. I googled my problem and it didn’t show anything of what I was going through, but I just wanted to let you guys know that. I also still as of right now, have those widgets up, but it’s just gray with gray lines over it and maybe I’m thinking it’s an iOS issue or something, but it’s been like this for a few hours now.

Does the basics, but needs a few revisions

Overall, the app is good. I think it does its job well enough, but it’s very simple. I like the customizable nature of the app, my home screen looks a lot better since downloading it.
The only technical issue I have encountered is that my large widget for my reminders seems to glitch at random points and not list any of my scheduled items. This is not a constant issue, but it does happen every once in a while, as well as taking a while to update once I add a new reminder.
The only other complaints I have are a matter of further improving aesthetic and perhaps some future ideas, none of which are deal-breakers for me, but would improve my experience with the app. I don’t particularly like the battery widget as it shows only the battery and not the percentage, which seems almost useless to me, as I have the same symbol showing in the upper right corner of my screen at all times. I also wish that the widgets did not say widgetsmith underneath them (similar to how the name of an app shows under its icon), I would prefer they have no title/caption. My third wish is that the widgets could have customizable shortcuts, so that when I select them, I am taken to the app that corresponds to the widget, rather than simply opening the widgetsmith app.
Nonetheless, I recommend this app. It makes me happy to see my home screen much more organized and customized to my aesthetic. I much preferred this app to others similar to it.

A few things I’d like to be added

First, I know it’s important to have your name out there but it kinda destroys the aesthetic to not be able to remove the text under each widget. Second, I wanted to have a little zig zag pattern with apps with the background still flush, however, it does not offer a transparent widget and that would be very nice for a unique arrangement of apps like I had in mind. Instead I had to crop and edit my background to different places so it appeared transparent, but even then switching pages made it look a lot less clean and smooth. Third, I have a calendar widget that shows what I have for events and it’s awesome. However, clicking on it leads me to Widgetsmith instead of more calendar functions. I understand you want more exposure but it’s less user oriented that way. I’m not sure if that’s something you can fix but it would be a fantastic addition. Overall, I think it’s great for a pretty new app and update, but there’s always room for improvement so keep working hard!! Thank you!
