I’m low on data so I could use it but I’m not sure how to connect to the ones I learn about on this site. Too expensive for the offline map w premium- makes more sense to buy a good data plan. Most people looking for Wi-Fi can’t afford data I would think. Maybe I’ll figure it out

  • Great app!

    MrAwesomeboi

Originally I thought to myself “there’s just no way this will work out the way it says it will.” Man was I wrong about that. This app is completely free and can give you passwords to the public Wi-Fi in just a single tap. It’s just amazing! You earn points for marking Wi-Fi and other different things such as bathrooms, fountains, and even ATMs! It’s really cool to use and after you get enough points you can even get offline maps for it (or pay for early access)!! It’s like everything that Apple/Google Maps doesn’t offer in ya own unique and cool iPhone app!

  • Slow and invasive

Used to be a great app, but it has gotten terribly slow. For the last few months, despite patches and updates, I still can’t download a list of nearby hotspots in cities I visit. The app just stalls and has a blank screen. For awhile, if you let the app always track your location, it worked better (which is highly suspicious and probably invasive). Now, it just won’t provide you any information on any nearby hotspots. Needs a fix soon.

  • App is convenient and finally has the features it claims to have.

Edit: the offline feature was missing for a long time, even though it was a touted feature. It has been added, so I wanted to update my review of the app to reflect that. As it stands now, app does what it states, which is a cloud-sourcing database of WiFi connections. It is convenient to make connections and can prefill passwords when a WiFi in the database is recognized. I continue to contribute access points when possible and have found the app is useful and convenient. I’ve contributed over two dozen WiFi points, and paid for a membership specifically to get access to offline hotspot data and it is not available. Even though the app description lists it as a feature, when I attempt to access it, a message pops up saying it will be available on the ‘next update’, yet The app has been updated 5 times since I paid and still it is unavailable. The app description should be accurate, but it is currently blatantly lying. I want my money back for a paid feature that is being falsely advertised.

Ever been stuck somewhere with terrible cell service, desperately searching for free Wi-Fi like a modern-day treasure hunter? Wi-Fi Map swoops in to save the day! This app is a lifesaver for travelers, digital nomads, or anyone who refuses to settle for slow internet. The sheer number of hotspots it maps out is impressive—whether you're in a bustling city or off the beaten path, Wi-Fi Map finds free and secure connections with ease. Plus, the user community keeps things updated, so you’re always working with the latest info. No more guessing if the café down the street has Wi-Fi or if you need to beg for the password! And let’s talk about the speed test and VPN features. Not only can you see which hotspots are worth your time, but you also get an extra layer of security when browsing. It’s like having a personal tech assistant in your pocket! If you hate slow internet as much as I do, this app is a must-have.

  • Mostly Good, Buggy Experience

A frustrating app. Extremely useful, with excellent crowdsourced data. However the user experience has been problematic recently. The app detects my location on my iPhone 8, shows numerous pins on the map surrounding my location on the top half of the screen, and the lower half of the screen, the list, says, “No WiFi nearby” which contradicts the map. Nor can I collapse the list to see only the map. Also, if I type a US city/state into the search field, such as Wickenburg, AZ, it’ll report “location not found”, however, if I type the city name alone, it’ll yield results. Overall, the user interface is well-designed and intuitive when it works as intended, and it has in previous releases. It’s informative, helpful, and fun to consume and contribute to when it’s working, however the issues that I’m having suggests that development and QA is not on its A-game. If the free version proves to be rock-solid in the future, I’d be happy to purchase the premium version, but it’s not there yet.

Thanks for sharing your feedback. Sorry about the frustration. Our team is working hard to make WiFi Map better. Sometimes bugs occur because a new update is installed incorrectly. Please delete the app and reinstall it again. It should solve the "No WiFi Nearby" issue. Feel free to email us at help@wifimap.io if you’re still having problems once you’ve tried the above. Thank you.WiFi Map Team
