Filmora: Movie & Video Editor 4+

Very nice editor

The baseline of this review is that I love it. I've been using PowerDirector for several years, switched, and would never go back. However, one pet peave is that I scroll the timeline horizontally a lot. The scroll button at the bottom of the timeliner is small and is a nuisance to click on and slide quickly. This would be OK if there was a shortcut key (like ^Right and ^Left) or pressing the mouse scroll wheel down, but I can't find a shortcut. It's a significant nuisance, but in the big picture, a small one. I frequently incorporate slideshows in my videos. This is something PowerDirector does better. In Filmora, it's easier to use an external program to make and export a slideshow, then import into filmora and find a soundtrack. This process is a nuisance, creates more files, and degrades the quality of slideshow by the time it's produced. The bigger issue is that is the slideshow needs to be modified, I have to do the whole import, edit, export, then reimport to Filmora. THAT's a pain. It would be really nice if Filmora not only did this as well as PowerDirector, but did it better.

Pretty good editing software

While the software can take some time to get used to, it is excellent in what it can provide you with. From pre-made effects and a plethora of style choices, it works well for anyone starting out as a video editor. With this app, there are also the cons that go with it such as it being a bit difficult to understand where some tools are located. Such example of this is when I noticed whenever I deleted a piece of footage, audio, images, etc. the entire timeline would shift delete and ruin the timing of some key frames put in place. The only way to fix the problem was to find a tutorial online that simply pointed out that it was a toggled on feature that could be turned off. Overall, my experience has been mostly positive as for the only editing software that I paid full price for, it was a bargain for what it provides, and its simplicity in making video editing.

Good but...

Wondershare has been working very well for me. There is a very large selection of audo, titles, transitions, and so on. The only problem is the fact that to unlock EVERYTHING, you must pay a monthly fee. it isn't too much, but I would still much rather use a completely free app. If you don't pay, all your videos are exported with the Wondershare Filmora watermark, which is pretty annoying especially if you have titles below. Still, this app suits me well and I hope to unlock all features soon to see what the premium is like.
Real quick, I want to mention that this was a huge step-up for me. I started out using iMovie and then switched to Wondershare, which is way more advanced. This app has definitely challenged me and my editing skills as well as impressing me. I went from a super small selection of effects to an immeasurable amount! I must say, Wondershare has worked very well for me so far.
