The large print books are interesting, fun and easy to read and understand. The trivia, math and spelling pages provide a choice of two answers, which affords a platform for successful outcomes. People with dementia often fail at many of life’s simple tasks, including leisure activities. The app has taken this into account. If a person answers a question incorrectly after two attempts, the avatar says, “Good job” or “Well done”. This is a “feel good” outcome, sending an important, positive message for those who need a little boost and a bit of encouragement. With the “two-choice” options, success is often found in reading and engaging, versus selecting “right” answer. The app also provides conversation prompts that are aimed at stimulating thoughts and opinions. While these pages can be enjoyed independently, they are also great discussion starters for family and friends.
