Unobtrusive ads, tons of puzzles, fun & casual
I was reluctant to play this at first because the ads for it were oversaturated in other apps, which for most games tends to mean they will be irritating apps designed to wring money and ad revenue out of people with very little attention focused on actual gameplay. But after I tried it, I was pleasantly surprised. Ads only play between puzzles, so you’ll only see a few during the course of any given session, and almost all of them can be closed within 5 seconds if you aren’t interested in watching them. Most apps force you to watch 30 to 45 seconds of an ad before you can close it, even if you immediately know you have zero interest in the thing being advertised. The only negative is that the same ads are shown over and over... mainly the Matchington Mansion / Gardenscapes games and Toy Blast. Yuck. Otherwise, the puzzles are great to entertain you when you’re bored, and there are 6,000(!) different puzzles as of today. Also, there isn’t any pressure to buy anything. You can pay for hints and other things but those are totally optional and never pushed on you. I’ll be paying the very reasonable $3 to remove ads - to reward the developers for making a game that has really good replay value (if you like word-finding) AND doesn’t annoy the crap out of me with tons of ads and sleazy tactics like making the game unnecessarily frustrating or slow and then shilling “upgrades” to remove the annoyances. Great app. Highly recommended.
Love it, but could be improved
I really love this game and it’s one of my personal favorites, but I think that there are some ways that it could be improved. For one thing, more chances to get coins would be very convenient for the players who don’t have 100 or more coins; not many people would want to have to watch advertisement after advertisement to finally get to 100 coins- which will promptly be spent on a single hint- which brings me to another thing that I think could be improved: players should be able to get more than just one hint for 100 coins. Many players might get stuck on a certain level and use a hint, but once again, there are players who don’t have 100 coins or even close to that amount! However, if you could buy more than one hint for the same amount, many people would be much happier and this game would be much more enjoyable to them and myself. I think that this is an amazing game, but boosters should be more accessible and players wouldn’t have to buy more coins and boosters, which could add up to a considerable sum of money. I don’t think that this game is a scam, as other players have said in their reviews, but more boosters and coins would be much appreciated. Thank you for creating this awesome game; I really love it.
Not terrible, but not great
I can say it’s fun and easy to get lost in, as I made it through 80-ish levels in about 2 hours, but that’s where the magic ends. This isn’t a game I expected to see abbreviations in (app=application among others. They aren’t terribly common, that’s just the most recent one). Around puzzle 90, the first word I made, and was shocked to see accepted, was “skeet”. As far as I knew, this was just slang and I deleted the game. Skeet shooting, however, is actually a sport. Unlike most people, I didn’t even look at the boosters, aids, and ad free purchases I could make as I don’t bother until I’m well and truly stuck. The plus is, like others have said, ads go quickly and are usually skipable in about 5 seconds. Coins are fairly easy to earn and usually you can make dumb match ups and random ones that you didn’t realize were words will be accepted even if they don’t go on the board, and earn you more coins. Plurals and singulars of words you’ve already made, if they can be made, count this way too if there isn’t a spot on the board for them. There is no downside to randomly matching x amount of letters and being wrong, other than a mild amount of frustration, a little time potentially wasted, and maybe using a hint or power up if you’re really that stuck. Overall it’s a good game, there are just moments where it feels unprofessional and I find them to be jarring.
