On your main Mac, install the host app from www.yamdisplay.com (free) and enable air mode by preferences. Yam Air Desk will be connected automatically when Wi-Fi is turned on.

Teleprompter In-App Purchase
The app is horrible, until you realize that you need to tap the gray button inside of the app and then purchase "teleprompter" for $0.00
Why is that so complicated instead of just including it within the settings or within the preferences? Not sure. I considered giving this app 2 stars because of how horrible that experience was. But now it works. So there's that. Also, relaunch the app on desktop and mobile after the in-app purchase. And double-check the menu icon in both the laptop's display and the external monitor's display - make sure they're set to "mirror diaply 2" or whatever.
I'd imagine 90% of the people here are looking for an alternative to Duet Display - these developers did everything they could to make it as complicated as possible. They succeeded.
Nice Display tool for Putting two macs to work.
Gone are the days of Thunderbolt cables and keyboard commands to swap your iMac into display mode so your MacBook pro can use it. Install this little app on your extra mac that you want to use as a display. Accept the free 7 day trail (purchase) to unlock. Then go to the yamdisplay website on your primary Mac and download Yam Display for Mac. Install it and follow the directions on the web site.
Launch YAM display on your Primary Mac. THen on your extra mac Launch Yam Air Desk. It will find your Main Mac and do what you told Yam Display extend or mirror. You do have to give permission to screen record and accessibility on the Main Mac and screen record on the extra mac. Works very well even on a low bandwith wifi router. Directions are lacking this is why I wrote such a long review.
Just a note on ipad use...
Since the instructions are a bit unclear. I have been searching for a app to use my ipad as an extended monitor over USB. Yam is the onlything that works! Duet connects but is HORRIBLY laggy and unstable. Yam is the one!!
You will need to buy the app from the ipad app store - not the website like this listing says.
Then at yamdisplay.com get Yam Display for your mac. (not this app you;re looking at, that is for making your mac act as the second display.)
The allow Yam to record screen and have accessibility and you're good to go.
Far and away the best app out there. The is the one! Glad I found it.
