In the old days man tried to catch a glimpse of the future in the strangest of ways.
Experience the ancient Swedish phenomena of year walking through a different kind of first person adventure that blurs the line between two and three dimensions as well as reality and the supernatural.
Venture out into the dark woods where strange creatures roam, on a vision quest set in 19th century Sweden. Solve cryptic puzzles, touch and listen in your search to foresee the future and finally discover if your loved one will love you back.
Mysteries and clues await everywhere in Year Walk, but to fully understand the events that took place on that cold New Year's Eve, you will have to delve deeper than the adventure and lose yourself between fact and fiction.
For the complete Year Walk experience, or if you're curious about the folk lore on which Year Walk is based, we recommend downloading Year Walk Companion, available for free on the App Store.
"An iOS game like nothing else you’ve seen on the format to date.
This is a brave and truly original work"
Edge - 9/10
"Elegant and artful, Year Walk is an unmissable piece of work.
You can close the app and put down the phone, but the forest may spread beyond its glassy confines, its spindly, silver-skinned trees taking root in your own home, your own dreams."

The eclectic studio behind Bumpy Road stretches its creative wings once again with riveting results in this haunting first-person adventure game. Whether we're tracking a path in the snowy wilderness or piecing together the creepy storyline, the Year Walk experience overflows with style and atmospheric allure.
Great potential but too short
The beginning of the game is a little rough since you’re not sure what you’re supposed to do and it’s hard to navigate the forest (I recommend drawing a map). I had to look at a walkthrough once to get me started and then I was able to solve the rest of the game on my own. The puzzles are very clever and the atmosphere is incredibly creepy (be prepared for some scary moments). I enjoyed playing it but considering how short it is I would expect it to cost less. The companion app does give some added value and an alternate ending but it’s not enough. Still, it’s a unique game and will give you an hour or two of great game play.
By far the best game I’ve played so far on iPad
This is a challenging puzzle game set in a moonlit, snowy Swedish forest at midnight, where you are undertaking a Year Walk: a step across the bounds of this world and others. If you can survive the journey, you might emerge with foreknowledge of some of the events of the coming year. Along the way you must contend with otherworldly creatures out of ancient Swedish folklore.
Never before have I experienced a game where I felt so present in its world. Wandering through the woods, snow crunching underfoot, only incidental objects such as rock piles or old farm equipment to mark my path, I never knew when I’d encounter the next animal-headed phantasm with blank eyes, or gory patches of blood of long-dead children. If you’ve ever read any Susan Cooper, you’ll understand the feeling the game engenders: of being at the border of the worlds.
The game comes with a Companion that explains some of the folklore and symbology, and has other purposes too. Do get the Companion...let’s just say it will come in handy!
