Started YNAB with my fiancée six months ago to track spending after failing to keep up with spreadsheets. Can’t imagine anything different now. The most satisfying part for us is the spending trend analysis with ability to dial down individual group/category/transaction. Christmas, new tires, wedding/honeymoon, and unforeseen medical expenses were no stress this December. The “envelopes” were ready to roll. Nick True’s yt videos are essential - have faith that after a month it will make sense.

Really impressed with the turnaround the team made on this app last year. YNAB used to be pretty much unusable on mobile but now it’s solid and only a couple of updates from being as good as the web app. I really like how they’ve embraced Apple’s Liquid Glass look, one of the better implementations I’ve seen. Great work!Would really deeply appreciate a ‘select all’ button in any selection screen, such as the review transactions page.

This is the only budget program that I’ve used that works with credit cards. It’s very user friendly. I’ve used it for three years now and I love it. This makes bill paying not the scary proposition it used to be for me. Now I know the credit card money is right there waiting for me to pay it off. I don’t stress about any of my bills because the money is right there, present and future. YNAB helps me to save the money so that when the bill comes due, the money is right there. Viola! No worries!

I’ve been using YNAB 3 years and now I cant imagine life without it! The amount of clarity and control it it gives you with your finances will change the way you see money forever. It does take time to learn the process/system but I’m so grateful I did! And their support is some of the best I’ve ever had with a product! It’s less about budgeting and more about planning my spending. It was high time I learned to become accountable to what I was spending my money on. And in the course of my first year using this app, my attitude shifted from categorizing my spending in terms of Needs vs. Wants (this made me feel guilty about what I spent my money on) to terms of Expenses vs Discretionary Spending. In short, I’ve learned what is important to me in both categories and have fun choosing how I spend all of my money.

The first couple months are tough, I will not lie. Don’t think of it as an interface that isn’t intuitive, it’s really just a shift in the way your brain thinks about your money. It is a difficult process, it feels new and different and unorthodox, but once you make the shift you won’t go back. It’s the best way to not only budget your money, but also change your mindset around money. A more future focused, self-disciplined outlook on finances. I love it.
