Photograph your invoices and upload them to the app or forward them by email to support@zapptax.com. Step 4: At the end of your stay, click to request the automatic generation of your tax-free forms. You will get one or more tax refund forms showing all of your purchases. Step 5: Validate your tax refund forms electronically at customs before leaving the EU by scanning the forms barcode at a self-service kiosk (PABLO device in France and DIVA in Spain) or by presenting your passport to a customs agent in Belgium. And that’s all! Zapptax will process your refund and pay you using the method of your choice.

I was a bit nervous since this is my first time using this app. However, it was a relatively smooth process. Download the app, make your purchase and ask for the invoice as indicated in the app (I went to Galeries Lafayette and either the clerk or their tax/concierge desk made the invoice without issue), then scan or stamp at customs. I had a bit of an issue with using an American bank account but a quick chat got it straightened out. You can either use a bank or PayPal for the refund (the credit card feature didn’t work for me). All in all I got 90% of the 20% VAT (calculated as 18% VAT on the subtotal as the refunded amount). Refund amount varies a bit depending on your total purchases. This is a lot more than the in person tax agencies! Refund took about a week after I submitted the forms. PayPal/your bank may also charge a fee for the wire/exchange into USD during the refund so be mindful for that. The in person places do the same. Definitely will use again!

I am using the app for years now and it a lifesaver for the tax refund process. The biggest benefit is that you’re not limited to each “store daily sales limit” in order to get a refund. You can aggregate all the receipt through ZappTax and they will be the one managing all the paperwork. Everything is digital and super easy to use. They also helped me figure out how to validate the form after my trip because I couldn’t find a custom’s agent and none of the “Pablo” machines were working. It was a bit tricky but we finally made it. Thanks again guys. Really, a great option for travelers.

Other than their friends and family I am proud to say I was the first ZappTax customer. I was really having trouble trying to organize all my receipts for purchase made on my trip abroad. I sent Zapp all my receipts in one bundle and they were able to process everything for me so efficiently. I had no trouble at the airport and their customer service was beyond incredible. I've never bothered doing refunds before because it was so difficult to gather the information for the claim. I will use them again in the future and have sent the links to all my friends traveling abroad. I was able to get a few hundred dollars/euros back from items purchased. Other than their friends and family I am proud to say I was the first ZappTax customer. I was really having trouble trying to organize all my receipts for purchase made on my trip abroad. I sent Zapp all my receipts in one bundle and they were able to process everything for me so efficiently. I had no trouble at the airport and their customer service was beyond incredible. I've never bothered doing refunds before because it was so difficult to gather the information for the claim. I will use them again in the future and have sent the links to all my friends traveling abroad. I was able to get a few hundred dollars/euros back from items purchased.
