Easily open and extract your zip files and archives and store them inside the app.
Zip Viewer lets you open zip file attachments from your emails, Safari downloads or other applications that offer a share/'open in' feature. (Also password protected zip files.)
Import zip files from iCloud Drive or other cloud providers such as Dropbox or Box (app needs to be installed on the device) directly from Zip Viewer.
Zip files will be automatically extracted and stored in the application documents directory.
You can drill down through the folder structure within the zip file. Files can be viewed by the build-in file previewer which supports file formats such as:
- iWork documents
- Microsoft Office documents (Office ‘97 and newer)
- Rich Text Format (RTF) documents
- PDF files
- Images
- Public text files
- Audio file (playback)
- Movie files (playback)
Share extracted files via email, Twitter, Facebook - Pass them through to other applications that support the file format (e.g. for editing) or printed via AirPrint. (functionality is depending on your device configuration)
The extracted files can be removed manually. The complete folder/file structure can be downloaded via iTunes file exchange too.
Use Zip Viewer alongside with Zip to Mail to get the full experience of viewing and creating zip archives. Zip to Mail is also available for free on the App Store.

Worked great first time!
I was able to downloaded a zipped ebook pdf from a webpage and open it immediately in this app. I could read it in the app, but I easily used the "open in" link to open the unzipped pdf in iAnnotate to read and make notes.
Couldn't have been easier, unless Apple were to support automatic unzipping of files for all apps so I could open the zip file directly in the preferred destination app - which they don't 😪
Cannot save my files that I opened here to my cloud or anywhere!
I used this app for a while and found another zip app that works better. I’ve been trying to get the files I opened with this app saved to my cloud drive, but when I asked on their forum they said the only way to do it is through iTunes. I haven’t used iTunes in a long time, but I tried following their instructions. Apparently now you are no longer able to manage apps through iTunes. I have posted to their forum and sent several emails telling them this, but they won’t respond. It shows that my comment is “awaiting moderation” when I login to their forum, and they won’t respond to emails. Very frustrating. Very unprofessional. I would not recommend this app to anyone! Apparently if you use the free app and simply want to switch to the pro version this is the same issue. The app I currently use to unzip is the same as the pro version, just with ads. Now it seems I’m going to lose all of the files I opened with this app since they won’t help me. I guess they don’t have an answer so it’s easier for them to ignore. I haven’t ever left a bad review for an app, but this is really ridiculous. I hope my review will save someone else from this headache!
It actually works opening Zip files on my iPad
I always groan when one of my musical equipment products has their manuals, MIDI implementation, presets, etc on a Zip file instead of a PDF file because I prefer to read my manuals on my iPad and there was no way to open the Zips. I did some research and most articles required doing several steps which usually involved buying an app or something else. Then I discovered this free app. What works for me is I copy my Zips to my iCloud. Then, when I open up my free Zip Viewer, it already has a selection for clicking on my iCloud and it automatically shows and opens all of the Zip files that I copied. What a great tool. Easy and free.
