5 Apps We Love Right Now

This week, we have apps for streamlining your summer vacation, supercharging your Live Photos, and bioengineering (pretend) microbes, just for fun.

Airbnb

Vacations are relaxing, but the logistics can be stressful. With Airbnb’s latest update, you’ll have one less thing to worry about. Thanks to support for Siri Shortcuts, you can now say a phrase like “My Airbnb trip” to get instant access to your upcoming plans.

Wakeout!

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need a home gym to get in shape. Wakeout! offers workouts for any place or time you can imagine, from bedroom-based strength training exercises to on-the-couch cardio routines. Remember to tweak the settings for mood and length to get a workout customized to your needs.

Tilde

Tilde helps you rediscover the magic of Live Photos by automatically combining them to create a short video montage. The process couldn’t be easier: Tilde even suggests Live Photos on your device for it to work with, so all you have to do is hit the play button. If you love what you see (chances are you will), tap the share button to send it to friends and family, or save it to your iPhone to keep forever.

Micro

Don’t fret it you struggled your way through biology class. Micro offers a fun way to learn about the microorganisms all around us. Like an interactive petri dish, the app lets you experiment with bacteria, fungi, and viruses. Tinker with their size, speed, nutrients, and more, then watch them fight for survival, reproduce, and evolve.

Ulysses

We’ve long loved Ulysses for the distraction-free environment it creates for writers. A recent update makes us love it even more. Ulysses can now open two documents at once, side by side. Simply drag a document from the sidebar and drop it on the far right of the screen to split the screen into two editors. Or long-press the share button at the top right corner and tap Export in Second Editor to generate a live preview of the document you’re working on in a second window.
