There are probably laws against letting exotic animals run wild in your home, but don’t let that stop you from dive-bombing into Angry Birds AR: Isle of Pigs. These fearless fowl and sinister swine are all virtual.
This Angry Birds entry brings the bird-flinging action into your living room—or office, local park, you name it—in astonishing 3D. Using your iPhone or iPad as a window into the Angry Birds world, pick out a flat, well-lit spot and watch as levels spring to life in front of you in augmented reality (AR).
The gameplay is classic Angry Birds, but it’s from a first-person perspective. Using a slingshot, toss birds to topple structures and squash the egg-stealing pigs. Four feathery friends are available from the get-go—reliable Red, speedy Chuck, blast-happy Bomb, and the Blues trio.
What really makes Angry Birds AR: Isle of Pigs feel magical is that you can approach the action from any angle. Move in close to peer through gaps and discover hidden TNT crates. Walk around the level to line up a shot that triggers a chain-reaction collapse. Get right in the pigs’ faces and they’ll taunt you, making their demise all the more satisfying.
The game’s impressive AR tech firmly anchors levels in place as you move around them. But if you need to relocate midgame, simply tap the rescan button and lay the level down somewhere else. Just make sure you have enough room to maneuver—nothing would make a devious pig happier than watching you bang your knee on the coffee table.
