Inviting friends to a party is surprisingly fraught. Do you send paper invitations? Not unless you're throwing a Victorian garden party. Email? Only if you want your invites lost to the spam filter. Inevitably, you’re just going to follow up with friends through text asking, “Are you coming to my party?”
If you’re going to end up messaging anyway, why not start there? Enter Hobnob.
The app’s well-designed still and animated invitations are created in minutes and sent entirely through text. Just name your event, add a date, time, and location, and pick your card style. Include a quick message to guests and you’re ready to send.
If your friends don’t have the app, they can follow a link to RSVP on the web without having to create an account (unless they want to), saving everyone a ton of time.
The guest list and all the event details are managed by the host within the app. You can invite more people to join the fun, add photos, start a group chat, and set up auto-reminders (complete with driving directions!) so nobody accidentally flakes.
While Hobnob has an array of seasonal images for your invites, the real fun happens when you create your own. You’re welcome to use a flat photo, but invitations made with videos or Live Photos from your Camera Roll will make a bigger impact (and feel more texty).
You can send up to 10 invites per month for free, but you’ll miss out on animated ones. To gain access to all the designs plus additional invite privileges and priority features, consider a monthly subscription.
