Crayola Create and Play captures the boundless creativity that comes with a blank sheet of paper and a crayon.
Built with 3- to 8-year-olds in mind, the app encourages your child to try as many different ways as possible to be creative. It’s updated monthly with new content, but there’s already a ton to do, all of it centered around the idea of learning while playing.
The app is divided into a few key sections that combine self-expression, education, and fun.
The Art Station is where kids can use art tools to color, draw, stamp, and paint. They can also turn a photo into a black-and-white drawing that they can then color in—merging the worlds of photography and illustration. Everything your child creates is sent to the Gallery and put on display in a mini-museum.
Meanwhile, the Color Lab functions as an interactive laboratory where kids can sort, match, and mix colors to see how various shades combine to make entirely new hues.
The Discovery Classroom section is where kids can play through various games and puzzles that focus letters, numbers, and shapes. Basic coding exercises help build your child’s logic skills and dexterity.
And in the Pet Park, kids can adopt a cuddly animal friend (which looks a bit like a dog and a bit like a baby dinosaur) to nurture and play with. Since this is a Crayola app, even the pet is an outlet for self-expression, as children get to choose its color or pattern. As they complete tasks in other parts of the app, kids will earn accessories for their pet, like new collars, hats, and glasses.
