Mr Jump, the brilliant and challenging platformer, has been downloaded nearly 20 million times since its release more than two years ago, according to developer 1Button. Only 23% of all those players made it past the first stage, and a paltry 0.003% of them— obviously run-and-jump perfectionists with godlike skills—actually completed all 36 levels, 1Button said.
That’s okay. Sometimes the fun is in the quest. And besides, we grew up with games whose levels of difficulty circled the periphery of torture.
Mr Jump S is a reimagined version of the original title with newly constructed levels that are more accessible to the casual gamer. The new obstacle courses have been cut into thirds to lessen the challenge and enhance accessibility. As a result, you’re much more likely to run, jump, dodge, and leap your way to victory.
“But don’t worry, beating Mr Jump S is not a walk in the park,” explains 1Button cofounder Jeremie Francone. “Admittedly, it is easier, but it still becomes challenging at some point.”
Just the right amount of challenging, we think.
