The app starts with a quick but thorough tutorial to get you up and running. You’ll learn, for example, how to add notes in Medly’s sequencer (drag your finger across the screen). Changing a song’s tempo and key is a snap, while 3D Touch lets you easily transition from fortissimo to piano.
This free app starts you off with professionally recorded samples, loops, and instruments geared toward creating electronic music. But you can purchase any of seven instrument packs that expand your sounds and instruments for jazz, rock, classical, house music, and more.
Want to add your own sounds to the mix? You can either import audio from your device or record yourself live using a mic—either the mic in your iPad or iPhone or an external one.
And once you feel your song is ready to go, you can share it as a video, audio, or MIDI file.
