Smash Up - The Card Game

View

We aren’t sure exactly when Smash Up hooked us, but probably during a battle between gigantic laser-powered dinosaurs and a team of ninja robots.

The game’s concept is simple: Gather some friends, choose your favorite two decks of character cards, and mash them up to create your own personal army. Then go head-to-head against your opponents’ decks in a massive free-for-all battle. Capture bases before your rivals and victory is yours. It’s a game of strategy, luck, and, above all, fun.

With factions like wizards, aliens, tricksters, robots, and more, Smash Up is basically every nerd’s dream scenario. But it’s far from just fan service. Each deck plays differently, and when you combine them, the relationships among the cards can get pretty wild.

Choose two factions, mash them together, and dominate the competition.

Take zombies, for example. Their main hook is the ability to bring discarded cards back from the dead, effectively doubling the size of your army. Team them up with pirates, who can move units from base to base, and you’ve created a deadly combination.

The base version of Smash Up includes nine faction decks that you can play locally or take online in four-player competition. We’re hoping the app continues to expand. (The physical game has 55 factions.)

But the app is off to a great start, ideal for anyone who wants to take Smash Up on the go.
