They sought $10,000 in crowdfunding to produce a quirky, hand-illustrated deck; they exceeded that goal in under 10 minutes. And by the time the campaign wrapped up a month later, they had amassed a gargantuan $9 million to become the highest-funded game in Kickstarter history.

The game itself couldn’t be simpler. Load it up and select whether you want to play with friends or strangers. The former option lets you easily host a game and share a six-digit code with anyone you’d like to invite. The latter connects you to other players online. Whichever you choose, you’ll be battling it out with up to four other people.
The goal is to survive. That’s it. Somewhere in the deck, there are exploding kittens. If you draw one, it’s boom time—unless, that is, you’ve got a diffuser card such as a catnip sandwich. There are cards that negate the previous turn, force two draws in a row, allow you to skip pulling a card from the deck, reshuffle, and more.
