Berliner Philharmoniker

Digital Concert Hall

View

You may not be able to fly to Germany to catch a performance by the Berlin Philharmonic, but the Digital Concert Hall app is the next best thing. It makes the legendary orchestra’s rich archive of past concerts accessible on demand.

Simon Rattle’s 16-year tenure as music director is well represented in the app, and you’ll find concerts conducted by Herbert von Karajan dating back to 1968 (including his rousing 1977 performance of Beethoven’s Ninth).

A subscription unlocks a library of films, including documentaries about the orchestra’s fabled conductors.

Pierre Boulez, Daniel Barenboim, Seiji Ozawa, and other renowned maestros who’ve collaborated with the orchestra are all here too. You’ll also find performances by just about every soloist of note, including Martha Argerich, Hilary Hahn, Yo-Yo Ma, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Thomas Quasthoff, and Mitsuko Uchida.

More recent concerts are filmed in hi-def using multiple cameras to bring you closer to the music than you could ever get in person. And you can watch it all with a monthly subscription that costs less than a ticket to a single live performance.
