Passpartout: Starving Artist

You can become a great artist!

View

Ah, Paris. The history, the romance, the baguettes. If you’ve ever dreamed of living as a bohemian artist in France, now you can—at least virtually.

The simulation game Passpartout: Starving Artist lets you experience all the glamour and chaos of the contemporary Parisian art scene. Paint masterpieces and attempt to sell them to customers, who have varying (and difficult to predict) tastes.

As you succeed, unlock better painting supplies and higher-profile spots to sell your work.

You’ll start impoverished, with a shabby garage as your studio. If you get lucky, though, you’ll catch the eye of potential patrons who’ll pay for your masterpieces. Earn more money and unlock better brushes and paints, which will give you a shot at showing in a trendy gallery for better opportunities.

The biggest challenge is trying to predict—and meet—the expectations of picky and rude buyers.

As the game progresses, customers become increasingly rude, and meeting their demands gets harder. But with a bit of luck, talent, and skill at reading into your patrons’ desires, you just might become a world-famous artist, showing in museums around the world.

Can you become the next Renoir? Dare to dream.
