Have you ever dreamed of playing a game using only your eyebrows? Oh—you haven't? Well, um, that hasn’t stopped one enterprising developer from creating one anyway.
In Rainbrow, a clever indie game from Nathan Gitter, you control the onscreen action not with your hands but with your brows. An onscreen face emoji ascends or descends a rainbow based on—well, your mood. Raise your brows and the emoji climbs. Frown and it falls. Do nothing at all and it’ll do the same.
Just waffle between expressions of surprise and anger to collect stars that randomly appear. You also have to avoid hazards, like cars and ducks, because why not? The more stars you collect without accidentally swiping a hazard, the better your score.
Although simple, the experience is surprisingly fun because of how quickly the game reads and translates your expressions (with the help of iPhone X’s TrueDepth camera). As a result, you’ll find yourself thoroughly engaged— for much longer than should be reasonably acceptable.
Just be aware that you might get some quizzical looks from people wondering why you’re making faces at your iPhone.
