Pocket Build is all about the freedom of creation. You start with an empty world, lay down some land, add a few buildings, and guide it from a small town to sprawling empire. It has become an overnight success on the App Store and doesn’t seem close to relinquishing its place on the top-games charts.
So what’s the craze all about?
The first thing to know is that nearly every element in this world is open to your creative touch right from the start. While you can begin in the premade Pocket Town, it’s more fun to start small—maybe with a quaint little home.
From there it’s entirely up to you. Want to expand to a massive kingdom surrounded by high walls and catapults? Go for it. Or maybe a charming gentleman’s farm is more your speed? That’s cool too. (In fact, the game’s inviting style welcomes laid-back endeavors.)
Then it’s time to populate your world. Pocket Build has a simple economy: building a structure requires wood, while livestock and townspeople require food. Set up farms to earn these resources and build your empire.
But what should your crop be—corn? Wheat?
Well, you can farm anything. Even humans! Funny thing about completely open games: With no lines to color inside of, you can end up going wild. Now that you’ve got your livestock, it’s time to add some overlords to this new world.
