Duet Game

Hypnotic Trance Experience

View

Everyone thinks the same thing when they see Duet Game for the first time: “There’s no way I can do this.” That’s what makes it such a brilliantly designed experience. As intimidating as it may be, you can do this, and you’ll be blown away when you do.

If either dot hits an obstacle, it’s back to the beginning.

There are only two ways to control Duet Game. Rotate to the left or to the right.

The goal is equally simple: Navigate through each brief level (which lasts around 15 seconds or so) without letting either of your colored dots hit a wall.

That’s it.

Granted, it’s much harder than it sounds. Keeping track of each dot’s position as you spin around obstacles feels akin to patting your head and rubbing your belly; it takes practice. And the game isn’t out to frustrate you for the sake of it. Developer Kumobius even adds in little inspirational phrases between each section to keep you on track. How nice—a game that encourages you to play it!

Each intermission provides words of encouragement or helpful clues to what’s ahead.

Duet Game is no walk in the park, but there’s a satisfying moment that happens in every level when it goes from feeling impossible to feeling intuitive. You stop seeing roadblocks and start noticing patterns. You’ll gracefully weave around pitfalls and wonder how they ever slowed you down.

It’s why, a decade after the game was released, we still keep coming back.
