Physics-based games usually involve flinging birds or making trick shots, but in Supertype, it’s letters of the alphabet that drop, tilt, and roll to complete puzzles.

It’s an entirely new way to think about word games. Instead of trying to get a q on a triple-score tile, you’ll have to suss out how to position it so it falls to the left and slides down a slope.

The shape of each letter determines how it interacts with the puzzle’s obstacles. The letter o rolls because it’s circular, while l and i land upright and stay that way unless another object bumps them. To solve each puzzle, plan collisions that push letters into a black dot placed in a hard-to-reach spot.

To solve this challenging puzzle, get the f and m to slide toward each other so their shapes entangle before colliding with the black dot.

Or use plllllll to solve a puzzle involving a flight of stairs. The p will fall over to the right and trigger a domino effect so the ls ascend the stairs, Slinky-style.

Supertype’s backgrounds resemble handcrafted wrapping paper.

The game has 100-plus levels, but no pressure—the blinking cursor is patiently waiting with an intriguing puzzle whenever you’re in the mood.
