This new arcade game is anything but Piffle.

Piffle

A cat puzzle ball adventure

View

The maker of Crossy Road is back with Piffle, a game about lobbing kittens so they smash into things. Which isn’t as cruel as it sounds.

In fact, these adorable little furballs—Piffleballs, in the game’s parlance—are happy to be flung into blocks of every shape. And even the blocks themselves sport charming little grins.

Hit those red blocks six times and they’ll explode, taking out others nearby.

When you pop off Piffleballs, every block they hit gets worn down until it disappears. The trick here is to aim so they bounce off the most blocks possible before returning to the bottom of the screen. (It’s essentially Breakout meets Bubble Witch Saga.)

Blocks inch down the screen with every shot you take, so aim carefully; once they reach bottom, they’ll squish poor Piffle, the game’s hero. You won’t have much trouble in the early stages, but from around level 17 you have to think a lot more about every shot.

More block types means more to think about. Aim carefully!

It is classic “risk versus reward”—do you take easy shots at lower blocks to stave off defeat, or go for something more ambitious but less certain?

At the heart of Piffle is the strange satisfaction of pinging balls into a space and watching the chaos unfold. When blocks start bursting, it feels like you planned everything out when you didn’t. At all.
