When a reality-warping Cosmic Cube appears in Earth’s orbit, the Marvel universe’s biggest stars leap into action. But a clash between Captain America and Red Skull shatters it, sending the precious pieces hurtling toward our planet…and the hunt is on.
Told through gorgeously drawn comic book panels, the plot of Marvel Battle Lines serves as an engaging backdrop for this high-energy card battler. The story doesn’t just whisk you from duel to duel; it also neatly explains why you’re fighting on a tic-tac-toe-style playfield. (The game’s gridlike interface is cutting-edge Stark tech.)
Battles pit you against famous supervillains (Absorbing Man, Thanos, Cottonmouth) and even good guys like Black Panther. Over a series of turns, you’ll form lines of character cards that cross the battlefield, triggering devastating attacks that will weaken—or, better yet, defeat—your opponent.
The action is easy to get into, and there’s plenty of strategy here. Though you’re limited to summoning one character per turn, you can play multiple action cards—which you’ll use to unleash Hawkeye’s arrows, a S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier strike, and other specialized attacks on enemy characters.
Whether you’re facing other players in PvP matches or digging into the meaty campaign mode, victories net you cool new cards and the coins needed to buy more. Squirrel Girl, Carnage, Ghost Rider, Nebula—they’re all waiting to join your side.
