What we love: Point your iPhone or iPad toward the heavens to see an overlay showing the constellations above—complete with a drawing of its namesake from Greek mythology. Night Sky also highlights planets, satellites, the International Space Station (ISS), and celestial events—and provides details on light pollution and cloud coverage near you.

Meet the creator: Developer iCandi Apps was founded by Andy Weekes, a former music educator whose love of sharing knowledge led to his company’s biggest success, Night Sky. “To have gone from being a teacher in a single school to creating an app that is educating millions of people is phenomenal,” he says.
