The Company Game

Find the Truth.

When you first open The Company Game, you know you’re in for something weird. Your screen goes blank, except for a small white circle. Tap it and you’re taken to a computer command-line screen. Multiple error messages suddenly appear.

Is this a glitch? Nope—it’s the start of a wild ride.

Tip #1: Everything means something. Solve this riddle, for example, by reviewing subtle hints you received earlier.

In this captivating puzzler, hack a fictional corporation, cracking passwords and connecting to strange, hidden servers in search of data. Along the way, you’ll find old memos and uncover clues about a secret A.I. project.

The challenges are the incentive. A few levels even break the fourth wall by having you tinker with your device itself. You might have to adjust the screen brightness, for example, or shake your iPhone or iPad to “develop” an instant-camera picture. Reaching the end requires imaginative use of both your wits and your hardware.

Tip #2: When tapping doesn’t work, try experimenting with your device. Here, giving it a few shakes exposes a useful photo.

The prevailing mood is sheer paranoia—you’re engaging in corporate espionage, after all. As you progress, you may start to look over your shoulder to see if anyone from the Company is tailing you. Every couple of levels, you’re sent cryptic notes. (”Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not there,” reads one sinister message.)

At one point, the game makes your device vibrate and repeatedly engages the camera flash. For a moment, you might think you’ve actually been hacked. (Don’t worry—you weren’t.) It’s everything right about The Company Game: slick, creative, and downright creepy.
