Brawl Stars, the next game from Clash Royale creator Supercell, is slated to hit the App Store soon. Can’t wait to get in on the fast-paced online action? Get a taste right now with the Brawl Stars Animated Emojis app, which brings the game’s charismatic cast to your iPhone X, iPhone XS, or iPhone XR in Animoji form.
With the help of your device’s TrueDepth camera, grin, grimace, and make other funny faces as one of the Brawl Stars characters. You can also brighten up your chats with groovy Brawl Stars stickers.
The game itself is a cartoony, quick-fire online team game. It eases you in gently. In the beginning, your team has to grab as many Gems as possible; the first to 10 wins. Succeed to earn trophies and eventually unlock more characters and modes— such as Showdown, where you’ll duke it out in a last-player-standing battle royale.
The Animated Emojis app includes six Brawl Stars standouts. Purple-haired starter character Shelly deals heavy damage up close, Mortis the undertaker wields a mighty shovel, and the stylish, well-coiffed Colt plays it safe with long-range attacks. More whimsical characters include the speedy Crow, the skeletal healer Poco, and Spike, a walking cactus.

1. Tap below to download the app. Open it and you’ll be taken to the Messages app.
2. Start a new conversation or open an existing one, then look in the app drawer (the row of icons above your keyboard) to find the Brawl Stars icon.
3. Tap the icon, pick a character, and start making faces (practice your smug victory smile, perhaps?). Tap the red button to record and share a short video clip, or tap the Animoji itself to send it as a still image. And if you’d prefer classic stickers, just swipe up on the Animoji window to find six more pics.
