Fantastical - Calendar & Tasks
Plan your day perfectly
Managing your schedule is hard enough; who wants to fight with their calendaring app? If you’re overwhelmed with meetings and appointments, maybe what you need (apart from a vacation) is something that makes planning fast and easy.
Fantastical does just that. Our favorite feature is the ability to add events and tasks using natural-language processing. That’s a fancy way of saying you can tell Fantastical about an event—in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, or Japanese—just as you would describe it to another person. Type “coffee this Friday with Jim at Mr. Bean at 2:00 p.m.” and Fantastical creates a calendar event, magically getting all the details right. (You get a preview before it’s added, just to be sure.)
The app knows the difference between “Friday” and “next Friday” and understands phrases like “every other Tuesday” for a repeating event. If you start your text with “reminder,” “to do,” “task,” or “remind me to,” the app creates a reminder instead. Adding an alert to an entry is as easy as typing “alert me Thursday at noon,” or “remind me 2 hours before.” And when you type an event description, Fantastical suggests known locations, saving you the trouble of having to find an address.
Fantastical offers multiple ways to view your schedule. The app’s mini-calendar is just a click away in the menu bar, giving you a convenient ticker with a list of upcoming events. Each entry is color-coded to its calendar, providing a glanceable survey of your upcoming schedule—click any event for a closer look.
For a broader perspective, Fantastical’s main window displays a traditional calendar overview of your day, week, month, or year. Events are color-coded here too; drag and drop them to change the time and date. Both views can show your due tasks.
We won’t say Fantastical makes scheduling fun—but with its unique approach to creating and viewing events, keeping track of commitments is less of a chore. And that alone is enough to make it...fantastic.
