Insight Timer started as a simple timer app for meditators but has since evolved into a mindfulness hub—one to help you reduce anxiety, improve sleep, and gain a little insight along the way.

What we love: The variety. The app features thousands of guided meditations across a range of styles: Buddhist mindfulness, Kundalini yoga, walking meditation, and many others. Lessons range from a few minutes to long and luxurious, and you can even join live yoga classes.

Quick tip: Choose the perfect gong, bell, wood block, or singing bowl sound for the app’s namesake timer. The optional interval bell, which can be set to ring every few minutes during your meditation, is especially helpful for longer sessions.

Meet the creator: Insight Timer was founded in 2009 by Christopher Plowman and Nicho Plowman, two brothers who wanted to design a conscious and accessible mental wellness platform.
