In the past, there’s been only one way to try on a pair of glasses: Walk into a store and put them on your face. Now Warby Parker has harnessed the power of augmented reality (AR) to come up with a much more convenient method.

It’s called Virtual Try-On, and it uses AR to show you how a pair of glasses will look on you in real time. Move your head up, down, or side to side, and the AR glasses will stay right where they are, as though you’re actually wearing them.

To try it out, open the Glasses by Warby Parker app and select a pair of frames. If they're available in AR, you’ll notice text above the photo that says, “Pull down for virtual try-on.”

Swipe down and the app will go into selfie mode, using the TrueDepth front-facing camera to recognize the size and shape of your face and magically add a pair of stylish specs. The feature is available on iPhone X and newer phones, as well as newer iPad Pros, which have TrueDepth front-facing cameras.

If you like what you see, tap the Home Try-On button. Warby Parker will mail up to five pairs to you for a real-life try-on. Or, if you’re ready to pull the trigger, purchase the frames right there in the app.
