There are some bits of text that you end up typing over and over: your company’s name, your address, a stock email reply. TypeIt4Me lets you insert any of those—as well as longer and more complex strings of words—by typing just a few characters.

With TypeIt4Me, you create a snippet (the text you want to type) and assign it a short trigger (a few characters that are quick and easy to enter)—for example, “myad” for your mailing address (complete with line breaks) or “pers” for the easily misspelled “personnel.”

Your snippets can include formatted text and even graphics. Type “palmgif” to insert your favorite face-palm GIF into a message, or “emojistar” for a shooting-star emoji. Rest assured that you don’t have to memorize every trigger: You can access all your snippets from TypeIt4Me’s system-wide menu.

Group snippets to make them easier to manage. A system-wide menu gives you quick access to all of them.

To get really productive, try creating a programmatic snippet. These can include the contents of the clipboard or the current date and time. They can even prompt you to fill missing text on the fly. And if you need to add text after expanding, TypeIt4Me can put the cursor in the right spot so you can just start typing.

Worried about accidentally triggering your personal snippets in the chat system you use for work? TypeIt4Me can restrict snippets—or sets of snippets—to certain apps.

Does TypeIt4Me really save you time? These numbers don’t lie.

Of course, once you start relying on TypeIt4Me, you’ll want to use it on all your devices. Thankfully, your snippets sync across your Mac, iPhone, and iPad via iCloud. You can also share snippets with others—helpful if you want to make sure everyone at your company is using the same stock replies or bits of code.

The app tracks the number of abbreviations it’s expanded for you and the cumulative typing time you’ve saved. You might be surprised how quickly those keystrokes can add up. When you’re trying to be productive, every little bit counts.
