Technical and challenging, rally racing is an intoxicating offshoot of its asphalt-focused cousins. And Rush Rally 3 absolutely nails the thrill of this white-knuckle motorsport.
The latest installment in the accomplished series looks flat-out amazing. From hugging hairpin turns in dense Finnish forests to kicking up plumes of dust in parched Mexican badlands, the racing is beautifully detailed and buttery smooth.
As you swerve through hair-raising courses trying to shave milliseconds off your record time, your A.I. navigator calls out pace notes to let you know what’s ahead. “Two left, don’t cut” means there’s a sharp left turn coming up, with an obstacle on the inside of the curve. You’ll be speaking fluent rally lingo in no time.
A new Career mode sends you racing around the globe, earning cash to fill your garage with sweet cars decked out and tuned to your custom specifications. If you need a break from going it alone, rallycross events pit you against five computer-controlled opponents, while local or online multiplayer races offer four-player paint-trading mayhem.
And while Rush Rally 3 has the look and feel of traditional rally racing, playful skill challenges have you weaving through sluggish civilian traffic and even dodging incoming missiles. Maybe your opponents are tired of losing?
