Astrologaster

A comedy written in the stars

View

Self-professed astrological “doctor” Simon Forman has convinced folks that the solutions to Elizabethan London’s problems are written in the stars. But are they? You’ll find out in the oddball adventure game Astrologaster.

How it plays: Based on the dubious work of the real Simon Forman, the game tells the story of a medic’s attempts to divine meaning from astrological readings. Pick out which stars to read, then render your diagnosis. Do you tell patients what they want to hear or genuinely try to help them? A fake doctor’s work is never done!

Between the dialogue and the voice-overs, the conversations are can’t-miss.

Why we love it: Watching carefully crafted cardboard scenes expand and contract as you turn the pages of a virtual book is immensely satisfying. And Astrologaster’s absurd situations and conversations—about everything from stomachaches to stolen pies—are downright hilarious.

Don’t miss: Superb voice-acting sets the 16th-century mood, but it doesn’t stop there. Each chapter begins with a poem sung by a harmonious choir. Turn up the sound!
