Swords, Shields and Chaos!
Gladiators are usually depicted as heroic, muscle-bound specimens carrying gleaming steel. Physics-based fighter Knight Brawl isn’t having any of that.
Sporting a dad bod and a bushy beard, your beginning brawler wears a wooden barrel for armor, wields a puny blade, and has a saucepan on his head. But better gear is just a victory away.
Wins don’t come easy, though. Despite its simple control scheme—moves consist of jumping, dashing, and slashing—Knight Brawl is no mindless button-masher. To take down an enemy, you first have to strategically knock off their protective gear. Do you go for a shield or aim for a helmet?
As you upgrade your arsenal from spears and scepters to maces and hammers, you’ll deal more damage. But you’ll still need to thoughtfully time jumps and dashes to strike those armor-stripping blows. And if all else fails, try booting the bad guys off the side of the screen! Even knights play dirty from time to time.
Knight Brawl’s tactical depth is nicely complemented by its charmingly simple pixel-art graphics and catchy retro tunes. With loads of unlockable fighters and optional, goal-oriented challenges to beat, this combatant is indeed formidable—even with a saucepan on its head.
