Adobe Lightroom

Edit, manage and share photos

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or an enthusiast looking to up your game, Adobe Lightroom’s intuitive design, powerful tools, and smart features help you edit, organize, and share photos in record time.

Now optimized for Mac with the Apple M1 chip, Lightroom delivers even more power and performance.

The Healing Brush lets you effortlessly eradicate blemishes or remove unwanted items from photos. The Clone tool makes quick work of replacing complicated textures (helpful when you want to remove a splotch from a busy patterned shirt).

And Lightroom on a Mac with M1 delivers blazing-fast performance, whether you’re editing RAW images or organizing a library with thousands of photos. The M1 also enables new features like color grading, an extension of the Split Toning tool that allows greater control over color tints, according to Lightroom product manager Sharad Mangalick. “The new color wheel makes it easier to split and adjust your shadows, highlights, and midtones.”

The Healing Brush does more than correct minor imperfections; it can also remove large objects—even wayward horses.

For enthusiasts and pros alike

The app makes pro-level photo editing less overwhelming for those moving up from more basic tools. The Light panel of the Edit tab pares things down to key tools like Exposure, Contrast, and adjustments to specific light and dark parts of an image. Work your way down this minimal list to achieve great results with just a few sliders. Or click the impressively effective (and AI-powered) Auto button to let Lightroom do the work, then study the adjustments it makes to do it yourself the next time.

Pros will appreciate Lightroom’s ability to edit with greater precision. When using the Tone Curve tool to tweak brightness and contrast, for example, you have the option to zero in on a specific region of a photo. Similarly, the Color Mixer can help you edit the hue, saturation, and luminosity of particular colors. Use it to boost the blues in the sky without affecting skin tone or to change the red in a T-shirt to more of an orange.

After picking a preset, click the Auto button for AI-powered enhancements.

Features galore

In addition to offering popular filter styles (Lightroom calls them Presets) like Vintage Instant and B&W Punch, the app lets you make (and share) your own. Create presets of any combination of adjustments and apply them to future photos with a single click.

Lightroom reduces the tedium of keeping your photos organized too. Leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence, the app’s Adobe Sensei–powered features recognize scenes, specific people, and even objects—and automatically tag your images accordingly as you import them. Finding a photo of a particular person or place couldn’t be easier.

Your photo library syncs across all your devices with a Lightroom subscription: Make a last-second contrast adjustment on your Mac and the edit will appear on your iPad and iPhone. The app also lets you share your work in all sorts of ways—like using Adobe Portfolio to build a professional website in minutes.
