Alto's Odyssey

Discover the endless desert

The gorgeous sandboarding game Alto’s Odyssey plunges you so deeply into nature you’ll want to take a picture. Good thing the game includes a Zen mode that makes grabbing photos…a snap.

As you explore, you’ll see flora and fauna specific to the game’s various regions, how clear skies turn to rain, and how day fades to night.

Here are a few of our favorite shots. Keep reading to learn how to take your own.

Sandboarding turns to skimboarding in an instant.
Chance of rain: 100 percent.
Cruising through Temple City at sunrise.
Flying with some new friends.
The only thing more fun than flipping is wall-riding.
Enjoying a sunset balloon ride.
Just another quiet day on the dunes.
This...may not end well.

How to snap your own pics

At the main menu, enter Zen mode by clicking the right edge of the Alto’s Odyssey screen and dragging to the left. Once you see the sun icon, click to start playing.

Press Escape at any point to bring up screenshot mode (shown below). Use your mouse or trackpad’s scroll gestures to zoom in or out, and drag the screen to frame the shot perfectly.
