Yana: Your emotional companion
A friend to feel better
Things at work didn’t happen as you thought they would? It might have been a fault in your mindset.
“Sometimes the problem is not what happens to you, but the way you think about what could happen,” explains Andrea Campos, founder of Mexican self-care app Yana.
With her app, Campos wants to guide you to reflect on your thoughts in order to positively impact how you feel and act. Instead of going on autopilot without knowing why you feel happy or sad, Yana can help you understand and steer the thoughts that trigger specific emotions, all with a positive outcome on your wellbeing.
Here are three handy tools within the app to make you shine.
Understand your emotions
To find out more about the source of your emotions, start with the Emotions Diary on the Exercise tab. A couple of questions from a conversational chatbot will help you identify which thoughts influence your feelings and which situation affects you the most – say family, work or relationships.
Depending on your answers, Yana will suggest activities that reinforce positive thoughts or transform negative ones by encouraging you to look at the issue from a different perspective.
Focused learning
Should you already have a clear idea of what you’d like to work on – such as improving your self-esteem or boosting your productivity – then the Toolbox section is a great resource. There are more than 80 activities available, and the app will suggest the three that are most fitting to your current goals.
Be grateful
Yana knows that in order to shift your thoughts into a more positive mindset, being grateful for the good things that happen to you is essential. In the Trunk of Memories you can log all of your favourite memories from the day and find any previous ones you’d like to look back on.
To make this positive reinforcement a habit, you can set a reminder within the app.
